Trip Description (Jan 22 to Feb 7, 2027)
Bytown Ski Club after a hiatus of two years, will return to the Austrian Alps in the winter of 2027 with two vacation destinations; the first in Ischgl Austria with ski connections to Samnaun Switzerland, as well as a second week at the Kirchberg-Kitzbuhel Ski resort.
The gateway airport to Ischgl-Galtur is Munich Germany, approximately three hours 15 minutes via our private Bytown group coach. Like in winter of 2026, in both resorts, the two resort Bytown people will be joined by a different Bytown group of one resort only people.
In Galtur, our accommodation is at the Huber family 4-star Hotel Wirlerhof. Included in our package are buffet breakfasts, multi course dinners, an indoor pool and spa, a bar, a gym and provides laundry facility for a fee.
We will take the free ski bus that starts every 10 minutes at the bus stop beside the hotel for the 20 minute ride directly to the major lift of Ischgl, the Silvrettabahn. Returning at end of the ski day, the hotel has a large apres-ski pub with disc-jockey. Our ski pass also allows unlimited free access to a larger network of ski bus routes, to other communities.
Ischgl, a premier high-altitude (up to 2872 meters) resort with primarily intermediate level runs, has a ski area has 239 kilometers of pistes with 45 modern lifts. Your ski pass includes the trail linkage between Samnaun Switzerland and Ischgl’s Silvretta Arena, is considered one of Austrias top ski resorts. There is a small savings on senior ski passes in Ischgl vacation packages. There is also a quality ski mountain immediately beside our Wirlerhof Hotel, called the Galtur Silvapark, that our ski package lift pass includes. It has 43 kilometers of trails from 1600m–2300m, serviced by nine lifts, including two gondolas with easy, intermediate and expert terrain. It is not linked to the vast Ischgl-Samnaun ski area.
On Saturday morning January 30, after breakfast, we will take a private coach transfer from our Galtur Hotel directly to Kirchberg, a time of approximately 2 1/4 hours. While our rooms are likely not available until after 2:00, we can store our luggage and tour the village, or take the free transportation to nearby Kitzbuhel for a tour of that upscale town.
Our 4-star Superior Hotel Zentral is located a short, 150-meter, non-hill walk to the bus stop that offers free ski buses that reach all the main lifts of the village. It is also located within easy walk to the Bahnhof (train station) where you can travel for free to nearby towns including Kitzbuhel, Hofgarten, and Brixen.
Daily the Hotel Zentral offers us a generous hot-cold buffet breakfast from 7:30–10:00 and four course dinners with a salad/soup buffet bar. Their amazing wellness area, open from 4:00-9:00 pm, has a Finnish sauna, steam baths, infrared cabin, heated benches, and a quiet snug with waterbeds.
Kirchberg is linked by ski lifts directly into the large Kitzbuhel ski terrain and in the other direction by a relatively new linkage into the massive Skiwelt area that several of us skied in 2018 from our resort of Soll. Your ski card would allow you to experience the longest ski circuit in the world connecting the KitzSki and the Skiwelt Wilder Kaiser-Brixental ski areas. From Going at the Wilder Kaiser, you can ski on perfectly groomed slopes right across the Kitzbuhel Alps to Hollersbach. The combined Kitzbuhel-Kirchberg-Skiwelt area has 139 lifts servicing 508 kilometers of ski terrain. The gateway airport for Kirchberg-Kitzbuhel would be Munich, Germany.
On our Saturday February 6 departure day after breakfast, we travel by private coach to Munich for an afternoon and overnight at the downtown Hotel Maritim, with departure back to Canada Sunday morning. We will make arrangements to leave our skis and boots on the coach, or trailer overnight to streamline hotel entry and exit. As we did previously, I will request a group booking space at the Munich Augustiner-Keller for those wishing a fun dinner and local beverages together on our last evening.

TOURINGHOUSE realizes that no one likes to consider the unexpected problems that interrupt holiday plans. Unfortunately, difficulties occasionally do arise despite the most careful planning. To offer peace of mind, we strongly recommend the purchase of comprehensive all-inclusive travel Insurance from MANULIFE or another supplier.
This MANULIFE insurance provides reimbursement for penalties that may be assessed due to cancellation for covered reasons, but it also provides much more coverage (emergency hospital/medical, air flight accident, baggage loss, baggage delay).

Registration Information
Reservations for the limited number of group package spots will be accepted on first-come basis starting 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday July 21, 2026 by phoning Touringhouse at 613-741-2942 and/or submitting an application to Touringhouse by mail, deliver to office, or email attachment.
There will be a trip information meeting, open to all, on Wednesday September 9, 2026 from 18:30 - 19:30 at the Ben Franklin Chamber, at Centrepointe Theatre /Ottawa Public Library, 101 Centepointe Drive, Ottawa K2G 5K7 (directions at bottom).

Initial deposits of $1,200, plus optional insurance must be made at the time of application to guarantee your reservation, together with your application. If you are reserving your spot by phone call or email, your $1,200 application fee (and insurance payment if required) must be paid to Touringhouse within seven calendar days.
Balance of payment is due with post-dated cheque dated November 2, 2026, or email transfer or credit card payment before November 2, 2026.
Payments can be made by email transfer to travel@touringhouse.com, by VISA or MASTERCARD or by cheques payable to Touringhouse and mailed or dropped off at our office at 876 Montreal Road, Suite 201, Ottawa, Ontario, K1K 4L3.
Touringhouse will endeavour to pair single registrants into a two-person room or suite, if possible and upon request. In event of a pairing option, you would be provided an opportunity to network with your potential roommate prior to finalization.
Conditions of the Tour
All payments are fully non-refundable. If the suggested insurance is not purchased, there will be no refunds either before or after departure.
Should you wish to cancel your tour, you must notify TOURINGHOUSE in writing. Such notification will only be deemed to have been given on receipt of your letter.
Please state the reason for cancellation as you may be covered by your insurance policy. The reason for cancellation must comply with the conditions of the insurance in order for payments to be refundable.
We cannot give any allowance or refund for meals, rooms, excursions, etc., not taken when these are included in the price of the tour.
The price is subject to change only due to the following (beyond our control):
Any additional taxes levied by the airline
Fuel surcharges levied by the airline
The airline and airline schedule are subject to change at any time as per airline regulations, however, alternatives will be provided. The dates of the trip are subject to change depending on the airline schedule. If the schedule does not fit the exact dates of the trip, the length of the trip may increase or decrease and the cost may have to be reviewed.
Passengers with special meal requirements/allergies are requested to indicate them to TOURINGHOUSE in writing on the Client Information form. The following types of meals are available through most IATA airlines:

Dairy/Non-dairy
Fish or meat
Low Sodium/Gluten free
It is the responsibility of the individual concerned to ensure that the meal does not contain any ingredient that may be allergic to his/her metabolism.
While the group must depart together from Ottawa, a limited number of individuals will be allowed to change their return date for a maximum of 7 days, provided requests are made in writing by October 31, 2026
The airlines allow only 20% of the passengers in the group to change their return date. For example, if only 30 passengers take the full package with air, only 6 persons will be able to deviate. Deviations are provided on a first-come, first-served basis.
There will be an Air Canada service charge of $100.00 per person to process individual deviations plus the applicable incremental airfare if the same class of service is not available on the return. We cannot guarantee the same airfare for individuals returning on a different date.
Land only, or people using the deviations, are welcome to use the group coach transfers between the airport and the hotel, if they make prior arrangements to join the group in advance to coach departures. We cannot give a credit for transfers which are not used by passengers making their own air arrangements or deviating.
Traveller's Responsibilities
Canadian citizens require a passport with at least 6 months of validity from the date of entry into the country/countries included in the tour. It is the responsibility of the individual to secure the proper documentation prior to joining the tour.
Touringhouse's Responsibilities
Touringhouse Inc. makes arrangements with airlines, hotels and other independent parties to provide you with the travel services you purchase. These parties are independent suppliers over whom we have no direct control. Touringhouse cannot be held liable in the event of a failure by any person or company to render any transportation, accommodation or other travel service to be provided on the journey.
Touringhouse Inc. cannot assume any responsibility for expenses incurred due to flight delays, cancellations or missed connections caused by weather, strikes, war, civil disturbances, natural disasters, flight delays, government actions or mechanical failures, and is not liable for any expenses or consequences resulting therefrom.
Touringhouse Inc. cannot be held responsible for any claim, loss, damage or delay of baggage or property, inconvenience, loss of enjoyment, upset and disappointment, distress or frustrations, whether physical or mental, resulting from the act or omission of any party providing services.
The participant waives any claim against Touringhouse Inc. for any damage to, or loss of property, injury or death due to any act or negligence of any airline, surface transportation company, hotel or any person rendering any of the services or accommodations included. We do take all reasonable steps to ensure that organizations providing services maintain standards which are acceptable within reasonable limits.
